Ban On Political Rallies Amid Pandemic Likely To Be Extended: Sources

New Delhi:

The ban on public events and rallies ahead of elections in five states – imposed due to concern over the spread of COVID-19 – is likely to be extended, sources have told NDTV.

The Election Commission last week had banned physical campaign events and rallies till January 15 (today), and said it would review the situation.

The top poll body held a series of meetings earlier today – with the Union Health Secretary at 11 am, the Chief Secretaries and Health Secretaries of all poll-bound states at noon, and with the Chief Election Officers of those states at 1 pm.
